It's always a pleasure to bring someone new onto the team and and we're taking the time to introduce Kayleigh Russell, our new Social Media Lead! Here's what Kayleigh had to say about her love for animals and joining the FOUR PAWS team:

I first became interested in animal welfare after watching the documentary Blackfish whilst at university. That was the first time I had really considered that the images and videos we see of animals in zoos may not be completely accurate. From then on I became passionate about speaking out for animals, and this has only strengthened in the past few years with the effects of the pandemic and climate change.

Having worked in the charity sector since the beginning of my career, I have made it my mission to work with and give a voice to those who are vulnerable, and this fit perfectly with the FOUR PAWS vision: A WORLD WHERE PEOPLE TREAT ANIMALS WITH RESPECT, EMPATHY AND UNDERSTANDING. This coupled with my enthusiasm and interest in social media and content creation has led me to my role as Social Media Lead at FOUR PAWS UK.

As part of my role, I help to share the amazing work of FOUR PAWS with a wide audience across social media, spreading the word about animal rescues, our policy work and more. I also get to speak to our supporters directly through our social channels which allows me to see the passion and enthusiasm they have for the work we do, which is one of my favourite parts of my role. As well as this, I work with FOUR PAWS colleagues across the world, sharing creative ideas and inspiring one another to create innovative content that encourages people to take action for animals.

Being able to be a part of an important cause is always essential for me when taking on new opportunities, and this is true for my role at FOUR PAWS UK. With this role, I get to be a part of an ambitious and mighty team that are working together to make the world a better place – what more could you ask for?!

In my free time I enjoy going for walks in my local park, exploring London and attending music festivals. I love going for a drink at my favourite, local pub or curling up on the sofa to watch a classic romcom (especially in Autumn/Winter!).
